Laval drew 1-1 against Rouen in the promotion playoff. This keeps the Diables rouges in the running for promotion. The return match will take place on Sunday 24 May at 17h at Laval. The players of Régis Brouard held their own against the 16th-placed Ligue 2 team, who are fighting for survival. Despite a strong start to the match, Rouen conceded a goal at the 18th minute with a beautiful shot from Laval midfielder Cyril Mandouki. Far from losing face, the Diables rouges were able to react, even against a team that was superior in both physical and technical terms. Before the break, the Rouennais created several big opportunities, but it was in the second half, on a penalty by Valentin Fuss (48th minute), that the Diables rouges managed to equalize. In the second half, despite some opportunities from both sides, Rouen and Laval parted ways with a draw, one point each. Régis Brouard, Rouen's coach, was satisfied with his team's performance: "Laval had possession of the ball, that's true, it was tough, but we had the most clear-cut chances. I'm happy with what we produced. We made the match we were expecting. The team had a good performance overall."
