Laval, Stade Lavallois, is gearing up for the 2026-2027 Ligue 2 season with renewed ambitions. After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, the club finished in a play-off position and managed to stay up through the Ligue 2 / National play-offs. For this new season, Laval has decided to change direction, notably by replacing coach Olivier Frapolli, who had been at the helm for seven seasons. David Vignes, former coach of FC Fleury 91, has been appointed to lead the club to new heights. During his media presentation, Vignes expressed his desire to see Laval compete for a spot in the top half of the table. He stated, "We will work to always be in the top half of the standings. If we are in the mix by February/March, we will see about the play-offs." The 'Cap 30' project aims to bring Laval back to Ligue 1 eventually. The team will resume training on June 29, just ahead of a match against AS Saint-Étienne.
